The F2-221 uses the same silver aluminum alloy enclosure as the F2-220. While the F2-221's file-transfer performance is good, if seamless 4K video-transcoding support is essential, it's worth spending an extra $60 on the Editors' Choice QNAP TS-251B-4G, which is a more user-friendly (and faster) option. Installation isn't as simple as with its predecessor, and its tech support leaves a lot to be desired. Its successor, the F2-221 NAS ($269.99), offers more apps (including a mobile version), but not nearly as many as you get with other similarly priced NAS drives.

When we reviewed the TerraMaster F2-220 two-bay NAS back in 2017, we were impressed with its easy setup procedure, but bemoaned its limited app catalog, meager documentation, and lack of a mobile app.
